Fee Arrangments

The Jordan Law Office offers alternative fee arrangements, including flat, hourly and contingency fee arrangements. We will help you determine which one works best for you. We accept all major credit cards and we can work out a payment plan in appropriate cases. Please keep in mind that the attorney’s fee is in addition to court filing fees as well as costs related to deposing witnesses, travel and similar charges.

Flat fees

Flat fees are appropriate for cases in which discovery disputes are unlikely and the time it will take to resolve is reasonably predictable. The following cases are typically appropriate for flat fees:

  • Appeals
  • Business Entity Formation
  • Criminal Cases
  • Immigration Consultations
  • Expunctions
  • Employment Policy Drafting
  • EEOC Representation
  • Small Claims
Hourly Rate

Hourly rates are appropriate when discovery disputes are likely and the time it will take to resolve the case is uncertain. The benefit of an hourly rate is that if the case resolves quickly, the fee can be lower than a flat rate. The following cases are typically appropriate for hourly rates:

  • Employment Discrimination Defense
  • General Litigation Matters
  • Immigration Matters
Contingency

In a contingent fee arrangement, the lawyer agrees to accept a fixed percentage (often one third) of the recovery, which is the amount finally paid to the client. If you win the case, the lawyer’s fee comes out of the money awarded to you. If you lose, neither you nor the lawyer will get any money, but you will not be required to pay your attorney for the work done on the case. The following cases are typically the kind of cases appropriate for contingency fee agreements:

  • Plaintiff’s Employee Discrimination Claims
  • Plaintiff’s Personal Injury Claims
  • Worker’s Compensation Claims
